Stanley Reserior
Stanley Reservior sits below Rampart, and is a popular hiking destination for those heading up from Colorado Springs. What most don't know is that it is also a great trail from Rampart, and other areas in Woodland Park.
Getting There
- Head up Rampart Range Road, and take the right at the Y intersection.
- Go straight through the stop sign and onto Shubarth Road and Trail.
- Drive out Shubarth until you see the farm gate on your right.
- Park at the gate.
- Drive up to the resort and find a place to park.
Trail Description
This is a great ride. Head through the gate and up the hill. Take your first right. Keep looking for a trail on your left. It is less than a mile after your first turn. Continue on the trail, and down the hill until you get to a dirt road. Once on the road keep left and head down the hill to Stanley Res. Ride around the res, and to the trail on the opposite side. Head down until you see another single track on your left. Or...as the track shows, you can ride all the way down to the Airforce Academy. However, it is very technical and is a hike a bike in places. After heading back up the Single Track, you will hit trail 721 and go to the 721 and 307 intersection. Head up 307, and back to where you parked.
