Indian Creek
This trail sits a few miles west of Sedalia Colorado, off HWY 67. You have a couple of options on where to start once you get there. Indian Creek runs west of Roxborough State Park, and the main parking lot charges a fee. However, there is plenty of free parking nearby, so if you forget your cash you still have a few choices. Also, the trailhead is just west of Rampart Range Road, where there are hundreds of options for further riding.
Getting there from Denver:
- From Denver take 470 to Santa Fe (HWY 85).
- Go south to Sedalia.
- Go west on HWY 67 to Indian Creek State Park. It will be on your right.
Getting there from Colorado Springs:
- Take HWY 25 North to Happy Canyon Road just North of Castle Rock.
- Go west to HWY 85.
- Take HWY 85 North to Sedalia.
- Take HWY 67 West to Indian Creek.
Trail Description
This trail has a little of everything. It is also the most plush and green area near the front range. You will be amazed at how so. Just be ready for it to be humid. This is a little bit of the midwest nestled in the woods.
You can ride either direction, however the longer downhill is if you ride counter clockwise. The trailhead starts right at the corner of the bathrooms at the south west corner of the main parking area. However, you can also ride down throught the equestrian camping area and ride clockwise. If you ride counter clockwise, you will climb the singletrack to a road. You can also take Ringtail trail here, but it is an out and back to Roxborough Park, and not part of this ride. Take the road down a few miles until you reach the end. This is where the single-track starts. Go right at the end of the road under the powerline. Each time you reach an intersection, go left. This will loop you around the 14.5 miles of the trail. The downhills are fast, with a lot of jumps. Once you reach the bottom you will start climbing back. These climbs are very steep. The steepest are between miles 11 and 12. Once you get past that section, the climbing becomes more manageable. You can also ride into this loop from Colorado Trail at the Platte River.
