Kenyon Trail

This is a hard trail to find, and even harder to get to by car.  You will most likely need a 4 wheel drive to get there, but a Subaru will work in a pinch.  The track is all jeep trail, but well worth the ride.  It's a great place to take someone on a biking date that doesn't ride much.  This is a very pretty ride.  On a technical level, it is very easy.  Take the time on the trail to look around.  You can also camp out near the trail as well.

Getting There

  • Take HWY 24 out of Colorado Springs to Woodland Park.
  • Turn Right at the McDonald's. This is Rampart Range Road.
  • Go through the four way stops and up the road past the schools till you reach the fork.
  • Go right at the fork.
  • Climb the steep hill and go straight through the intersection.
  • Drive out the road several miles until you see a small sign on your left for Kenyon Trail.

Once you hit Shubarth trail after the first Cattle Grate, you have 4.5 miles to drive until you hit the Y intersection at roads 307 and 311.  This is a good place to park.  There are several pulloffs nearby, so you just need to pick one.  From here, ride down road 307 until you see your first left.  This is road 311.  If you want to make a day of it, take 721 down to Stanley Canyon, and then ride up 307 back to 311.  This will make for a good day of riding.  Once you are on 311, you will pass an awsome rock formation on your left.  This is a good place to stop and take some pictures.  The road will continue down until you intersect with 313A.  Ride 313A down, and then back up, keeping left when you hit the road 313.  Go left, and ride up the hill back to where you parked.
