Buck Gulch/Baldy/Charlies

Pine Valley Ranch Park trails actually lead into Buffalo Creek trail system, and onto the Colorado Trail.  You can either start at Pine Valley, or Buffalo Creek to get to the track shown here.  However, I would recommend starting at Pine Valley, if for no other reason than it is just downright beautiful.  Oh yea...and a killer downhill back to the parking lot.

Getting There From Woodland Park

  • Take HWY 67 north.
  • Stay on HWY 67 until it turns into 126 at Deckers.
  • Continue north to Pine Valley.
  • Turn left at the Pine Valley Ranch Open space just north of town.
  • The road will curve and climb, eventually descending to the parking lots.

Getting There from Denver

  • Take HWY 285 to Pine Junction and go left.
  • Turn Right at the Pine Valley Open space just north of town.
  • The road will curve and climb, eventually descending to the parking lots.

Trail Description

Take the trail head at the north end of the bottom parking lot.  This trail leads to a bridge over the river for Buck Gultch.  Ride Buck up to the next parking area and go left on another single-track.  At the intersection go right and pass Charlies Cutoff (we save that for later) and head down to Millers, going right at the intersection adn then left at the first single track.  Take another left onto Mt. Baldy trail.  This is a great downhill (eventually), where you then come out at the intersection for Gashouse.  Ride Gashouse up all the way to the top, heading right and staying on the main trail when you get to the fence for the parking area.  Ride past Baldy (unless you want another lap), and ride back to Charlies Cutoff.  Ride down Charlies, taking a left at the T for Homestead trail.  Stay on Homestead until you get to the intersection.  Go right, and hold on for a killer downhill back to the river at Pine Valley  You'll love it! Check out the video below if you doubt me!
