The Ribbon

This trail is unique in that at the top of the trail is a solid slab of granite that runs on for what seems forever. Most take the road up and then the trail down. However, there are some hard core individuals that do it as an out and back.

Getting There

  • Take I 70 to GrandJunction.
  • Take Grand west which turns into Broadway.
  • Take Monument South.  You will see the trail head parking on your left after a mile or two.

Trail Description

The beginning of this ride is through single track which takes you out onto a highway. From there you climb the road to another trail head. The start of this trail is all granite, and reflectors guide you through the correct sequence. Don't follow the track from here, the rider got lost. However, they did get back on track pretty quickly. The trail then leads into sandy sections with all kinds of technical challenges. Once in the canyon, you climb back out and then cross the road again for another trail. From here you start heading back to the parking area where hopefully you have food waiting.
