Red Rocks to Section 16

For a long time these trails didn't "officially" connect. However, with the help of volunteers, and money, it is now official. This makes for a nice ten mile ride into the foothills above Colorado Springs. You will challenge yourself with steep climbs and technical descents. This track has everything.

Downhill from Section 16 on a 26"

Getting There

  • Takc I-25 to the Cimmaron Exit and go West on HWY 24.
  • Take HWY 24 to Ridge Road and go left.
  • Red Rocks park is on your left.

Trail Description

This follows the same path as the Red Rocks trail. However, when you get to the Section 16 area you will go left down to Gold Camp Road. You then take the paved road to the High Drive parking area and go right. This climb takes you up a dirt road till you reach Palmer Trail. The trail then climbs up till you reach a stream crossing. This is half way. Your climb then continues and gets steeper as you reach the summit. After reaching the top you then descend through very technical trail into Section 16. Take the trail down till you reach the intersection for Paul Intemann trail. This trail takes you back to Red Rocks. You will go through gullies that are a technical challenge, but all ridable. When you get to the next intersection you will have the option to go left. Stay right. This takes you back into the park. It is all downhill from here. Have fun!
