Porcupine Rim

This is one of Moab's most premier trails.  Be prepared for a long day, and keep in mind that you're in the desert.  You will have lots of options for fast downs, technical ups, and one hell of a view of Castle Valley!

Porcupine on my SB5 and my 53 year old legs

Getting There

  • Take Main Street to HWY 128 just north of town.
  • Look for the parking area on your left, near the camp ground.  You can't miss it.

Trail Description

Ride back toward town on 128, and ride down to E300S and go East.  From here tike a right on S400E until you get to Millcreek Drive.  Ride up Millcreek Drive past the cemetary until you get to the guard house.  Pay the fee and keep riding for several miles until you reach the trail head.  You will know when you are there when you see the parking area on your right and the sign in marker at the trail head.  Once on the trail ride up, keeping left, until you get to the overlook.  From here the trail starts descending, with very technical, and sandy washes until you have to portage your bike across a gap in the trail.  From here continue down and back to where you parked.
