Deer Creek

To say this route is easy is a flat out lie.  It's just easier than the hard route. However, it does cut out the sections for Upper, and Upper Upper loop, so by that definition it cuts out some climbing.

This trail offers excellent views of the mountains and the city. You also have some great views of the East River and many of the scenic valleys in the area. This trail also offers everything from paved road, to jeep trail and single track. Everything about this ride aims to please. Do the track in reverse for an added challenge.

Getting There

  • Go south to Brush Creek Road.
  • Head out Brush Creek to the jeep trails on your right.Truly the best way to do this ride is to follow the track.

Trail Description

Deer Creek is one of the longest and challenging rides in Crested Butte. Starting from town and going counter clockwise it wraps around Mt. Crested Butte. There are many options for this ride, and this is just one. The track cuts out Tony's and upper loop and has you take the bike trail behind the school along the highway to Brush Creek road.  From there, it's just as ugly as the hard loop.  Once behind Mt. Crested Butte, you will climb jeep trails over a ridge above the East River. You will then go down into the woods and start climbing and descending over and over again till you finally end of out on Gothic road.
