Waldo Canyon

THIS TRAIL CAN ONLY BE REACHED VIA WILLIAMS CANYON TODAY

This trail sits about half way into Ute Canyon northwest of Colorado Springs.  It is used mostly by hikers, but makes a great ride once you get past the railroad tie steps at the beginning of the trail.  Make sure you get there early.  This trail is very popular during the season, and the lot can be overcrowded, making parking a pain, and hiking and riding the trail even worse

Getting There

  • Go West on HWY 24 from Colorado Springs.
  • Stop at the paved parking lot on your right once you are about a mile into the canyon.

Trail Description

You can't miss the trail from the parking lot.  Hike, or carry your bike up the set of railroad tie steps, and then start riding.  You will ride about a mile or so and then come to an intersection.  You can either go left or right.  Left will mean a very technical climb to start, and then some gradual ups and downs around the loop.  If you go right (recommended), you can ride the entire trail with some nice technical sections on the way back to the inersection.  This trail also has the option of heading to William's Canyon which is a great trail as long as you can stand the gunfire from the shooting range over your head.
