Teocalli Ridge

This is one of the premier rides in Crested Butte.  It is one of my personal favorites due to the long and sweeping downhill.  It is also long with killer climbs.  Most people don't get the chance to see the views this ride offers.  With wrentching climbs, and spectacular views of the Maroon Bells, and the Brush Creek Valley, this is one of the hardest, and pettiest rides in Crested Butte.

Getting There

  • Go to Crested Butte and park at the Chamber of Commerce.

Trail Description

Head out Elk Avenue toward Mt Crested Butte.  Ride past the cattle grates and take a left onto Tony's.  Ride up the single track and take a right when you reach Upper Loop.  Ride upper loop to the top, or take the right and down onto Brush Creek Road.  Go left on Brush Creek and ride down the hill and around the curve until the road comes to a Y.  You will see the sign for Teocalli here.  Take the left fork and climb, staying right when you get to the next intersection.  The road will continue up until you see a single track on your right.  There is also a sign for Teocalli.  Go right and climb up until you see the next single track trail on your right.  Ride up until you reach the top.  This is a great place to rest and check out the views.  Now hold on for some rolling terrain, until you get a steep three mile downhill back to the stream.  Cross the stream and go left, riding up and back the way you came.  Or, you can bail out and ride Cement Creek Road back to Crested Butte.
