Peaks Trail

This trail runs from the town of Frisco to Breckenridge. It is a favorite for runners and cyclists. In addition, you can access Gold Hill and part of the Colorado Trail as well as Miners Creek and Wheeler Pass which take you over to the Copper Mountain side of the range. This trail is deep into the trees, and follows a beautiful stream passing lakes and aspen groves.

Getting There

  • Go to the Bike Trail parking lot just off I-70 in Frisco.
  • Go left once you enter the bike trail, and take a right into the first trail head.
  • To miss the extremely technical climb, ride the bike trail to the first dirt road on your right. Reversing the track will show you where to find the trail from the road.

Trail Description

The start of this trail is very technical, unless you ride the few miles down the bike trail where you can miss most of the technical sections and then ride the road up to the Peaks Trail trail head. You will climb the technical sections, traversing along the ridge till you get to an old jeep trail. Heading back down you pass Rainbow Lake and eventually cross the road over a stream to the next trail head. From here you start climbing. You will pass Gold Hill, and Miners Creek trails heading up to Breckenridge. The trail ends at Ski Hill Road.
