Buckhorn to Capt'n Jacks

This trail starts in South Cheyenne Cañon.  It's a very popular trail off Gold Camp Road.  There are many options for trails up the canyon (without tilde).  This is a great trail however, since it provides an awesome downhill with high burms, and fast turns when you get over to Capt'n Jacks.

Getting There

  • From HWY 24, Take 21st to Gold Camp Road.
  • Drive up Gold Camp until it turns to dirt.
  • Park at the dirt lot just before the first tunnel.

Trail Description

This route begins just before the first tunnel on Gold Camp Road.  That's why there is a break in the track.  GPS doesn't work well in closed spaces.  Ride West through the tunnel and take a right when you get to the next parking lot.  Ride to the back of the lot past the closed gate.  Take your first right up Buckhorn Trail.  It will hairpin in about 50 ft back the other direction.  Keep following the trail until you reach the top of the saddle.  Take a right on the saddle and head down the switchbacks.  Once to High Drive, cross the road to hit the trail left on the other side.  This is where it gets fun.  You only have one short climb on this section.  The trail police took out the hard one several years ago so hold on, it's all fun and games from here back to the lot.
